About Access Ohio

Access Ohio was established by dedicated community members in 1964. They shared a common commitment to community safety, professional integrity, and personal growth. Their goal was to develop innovative projects focused on proactive intervention, education, and rehabilitation. By 1970, the agency incorporated as a nonprofit and hired staff to fulfill this mission. Volunteers continue to provide vital community input today.

The agency has a long history of developing industry-leading diversion and intervention programs. In the 1980s, we shifted from traditional outreach toward outcome-driven programming. These dynamic approaches were designed to address high-risk behaviors and provide individuals with the tools necessary for positive decision-making.

Access Ohio has a rich tradition of innovative behavioral health and violence prevention programming. Currently, the agency is a regional leader in:

  • School and Community-Based Prevention: Targeted programs for high-risk behavior.
  • Conflict Mediation: Practical applications for resolving disputes.
  • Court-Referred Diversion: Specialized tracks including Petty Theft & Retail Intervention.
  • Character Building: Modules designed to bolster life skills and personal accountability.

Quality programming and certified staff measure our success. Access Ohio has been recognized with multiple exemplary program awards from the Ohio Department of Health and the Ohio Drug-Free Action Alliance. We are also proud recipients of the Racial Legacies & Learning Best Practices Award from the City of Hamilton.

Access Ohio views the twenty-first century as a time of challenge and opportunity—the challenge of an evolving society and the opportunity for innovative programming acutely focused on addressing community needs and making a lasting difference.
